The majority of trucks will befitted with engines with power ranging from 400hp to 500hp. In September 2005, Volvo introduced the new FH Series truck complete with a new 12.8L engine with horsepower ranging from 400 to 520. The truck is suited for long-haul applications and aims to compete in the top level of the Class 8 segment in Europe. The new engine offers improved fuel efficiency and increased power. The engine also complies with Euro 4 and Euro 5 standards through the use of selective catalytic reduction (SCR). In 2006, Volvo launched the FH16 with a new 16.0L engine with power levels of 660hp and 580hp and torque of 3100N.m and 2800N.m, respectively. The range was further extended with an engine variant with 540hp and torque of 2600N.m. The 16.0L 540hp 2600N.m engine was developed primarily for haulers in the 40-ton segment, which are often used on hilly roads. The FH is available in four cab configurations, including the day cab for short-haul applications, the sleeper cab for medium- haul or overnight applications and the globetrotter or globetrotter LXL cabs for long-haul applications that can sleep one or two drivers…
