Assessment of Access Control Systems

1 INTRODUCTION 1.1 Authority The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) developed this document in furtherance of its statutory responsibilities under the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) of 2002, Public Law 107-347. NIST is responsible for developing standards and guidelines, including minimum requirements, for providing adequate information security for all agency operations and assets, but such standards and (more…)

Securing Control System Modems

1. INTRODUCTION 1.1 Scope This recommended practice provides guidance on the analysis of methodologies for evaluating security risks associated with modems and their use in an organization. This document also offers useful methods for creating a defense-in-depth architecture that protects the system components that use modems for connectivity. It is assumed that the reader of this document has a basic understanding of vulnerabilities associated (more…)

JCS1200 Control system

Product Description The Juniper Networks® JCS1200 Control System is an innovative system for scaling the control plane of routers and allowing the clean partitioning of services or network elements. JCS1200 enables unprecedented levels of scalability in a consolidated routing platform, while at the same time reducing the expenses associated with implementing and operating a multiservice network. In addition, JCS1200 allows increased control of (more…)

Accelerator Control Systems

Introduction and Scope The control system for NSLS-II is designed to convey all monitor, control, model-based, and computed data from all accelerator, facility, experimental, safety, and operations subsystems to accomplish supervisory control, automation, and operational analysis. The scope of the control system extends from the interface of the equipment being controlled through to the designers and operators of the accelerator facility, as well as synchrotron (more…)

BOILER CONTROL SYSTEMS

INTRODUCTION 1-1 PURPOSE AND SCOPE. This document provides criteria for the design of heating plant instrumentation. A heating plant contains one or more boilers. The plant may be an individual plant serving a single building or a compact group of buildings, or a central plant serving many buildings and facilities through an extensive distribution system. The heating plant instrumentation discussed is, in general, for a saturatedsteam power boiler heating plant. (more…)

Roadmap to Secure Control Systems in the Energy Sector

Control systems form the central nervous system of the North American energy infrastructure. They encompass vast networks of interconnected electronic devices that are essential in monitoring and controlling the production and distribution of energy in the electric grid and the oil and gas infrastructure. The ability of these cyber systems to provide automated control over a large, dispersed network of assets and components has helped to create the (more…)

Subsea Control Systems

FMC’s Subsea Control Systems are designed to meet the harshest subsea challenges and to provide flexibility, expandability and upgradeability throughout the life of the field. FMC Subsea Control Systems are adaptable and configurable to operate the simplest on/off controls up to highly sophisticated controls required for operating subsea process and emerging Gas Compression Units. FMC’s control systems are modular with various configurations which (more…)

YAKIMA REMOTE MONITORING & CONTROL SYSTEM

The Yakima Remote Control System (YRCS) is a supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system for control of remote hydraulic structures. The system consists of a Digital Equipment Corporation VAX minicomputer as the central controller and five remote water storage and diversion dams that are monitored and controlled using a line-of-sight radio communications link. The YRCS was installed by the Sutron Corporation for the Bureau of Reclamation in Yakima, (more…)
